GRAMMAR I. LINKING VERBS : BE, SEEM, VERB OF PERCEPTION (động từ nối : be,seem và động từ tri giác ) 1. Định nghĩa : Động từ nối ( linking verbs ) là các động từ : + Không mô tả hành động của chủ ngữ + Nối chủ ngữ (S) với một tính từ hoặc danh từ giúp mô tả chủ ngữ Cấu trúc với động từ nối: S + linking verb + N/ Adj Ex : The flower look beautiful She is a teacher 2. Các động từ nối thường gặp : a. Động từ “to be” ( động từ nối phổ biết nhất) Ex: They are friends. b. Các động từ tri giác Feel (cảm thấy) I feel tired. Smell ( nghe có mùi) The cakes smell good Taste ( có vị This pizza tastes delicious Look ( trông như ) She looks pretty. Sound ( nghe có vẻ ) Her voice sounds pleasant. 1

Seem, appear, stay, remain Seem ( có vẻ/ dường như) Her father seems angry Appear ( có vẻ như) He appears a good husband. Stay ( vẫn cứ / vẫn là) He stays faithful to his dead wife. Remain (vẫn cứ/ vẫn là) They remain friends after years. Lưu ý : - Các động từ nối ( ngoại trừ to be, seem, become) có thể là động từ chỉ hoạt động trong trường hợp diễn tả hành động của chủ thể. Ex : The soup tastes good ( tastes : động từ nối) She is tasting the soup ( tasting : động từ chỉ hoạt động ) - Khi diễn tả hành động của chủ thể, các động từ có thể chia ở thì tiếp diễn. - Khi diễn tả hành động, các động từ có thể dùng với trạng từ. Ex : She appears surprised at the new . A girl appeared suddenly before him. II. CLEFT SENTENCE (CÂU CHẺ) 1. Định nghĩa Câu tách/ chẻ (cleft sentences) được dùng để nhấn mạnh một thành phần trong câu ( S, O, Adv). Câu thường chia làm hai vế, một vế chính và một vế là mệnh đề quan hệ sử dụng that, who, 2. Cấu trúc * Cấu trúc chung: It + is/was + focus(S, O, Adv)+ (who / that) Ex : The man gave me the book. It was the man who gave me the book. a. Subject focus: (Nhấn mạnh chủ ngữ) It is/was + chủ ngữ + who (người) /that + V Khi nhấn mạnh chủ ngữ ta có thể dùng who (cho người) / that Ex : Tom likes playing football. It is Tom who/ that likes playing football. b. Object focus: (Nhấn mạnh tân ngữ) It+ is/ was+ O+ that + S+ V Ex : The woman gave him the book . It was the book that the woman gave him 2
- ENGLISH 11 NEW c. Adverbial focus ( nhấn mạnh trạng ngữ thời gian, nơi chốn, cách thức, lý do, ) It is/was + trạng ngữ + that + S + V + O Ex : - My father bought a new car last Sunday.
