CONJUNCTION Liờn từ (hay cũn gọi là từ nối) dựng để kết hợp cỏc từ, cụm từ, mệnh đề hoặc cõu với nhau. 1. AND (và) + chỉ sự thờm vào Ex: The girl made the fire; the boys cooked the steaks. => The girl made the fire, and the boys cooked the steaks. + để nối hai động từ hay tớnh từ hoặc danh từ (một bộ phận của cõu). Ex: She sat down and cried. (Cụ ấy ngồi xuống và khúc). 2. BUT (nhưng) Dựng để nối hai cõu cú ý nghĩa trỏi ngược nhau. Ex: He has a lot of money, but he is not happy. 3. SO (vỡ, để, vỡ vậy) Cú 3 cỏch dựng: - Dựng để chỉ lý do. Ex: I felt sleepy, so I went to bed. - Dựng để chỉ mục đớch. Ex: I will give you some money, so you don’t need to borrow him. - Dựng để chỉ kết quả. Ex: He didn’t study hard, so he didn’t pass the examination. 4. BECAUSE (vỡ, bởi vỡ) chỉ nguyờn nhõn hoặc lý do Because được sử dụng khi mà nguyờn nhõn được nờu ra là phần quan trọng nhất của cõu núi hoặc viết. Mệnh đề cú chứa because thường đứng ở cuối cõu. Ex: He came. He was interested in music. => He came because he was interested in music. 5. ALTHOUGH (dự, mặc dự) chỉ sự tương phản Sau although chỳng ta sử dụng một chủ ngữ và một động từ. Ex: They went for a bath. It had begun to rain. => They went for a bath although it had begun to rain.
- Lưu ý: Although và but khụng thể đi cựng với nhau trong một cõu tiếng Anh. Do vậy nếu bạn đó dựng although thỡ khụng dựng but và ngược lại Cũng tương tự như trờn nếu trong một cõu mà bạn đó dựng because thỡ khụng dựng so và ngược lại. II. WH-QUESTIONS 1. WHO hoặc WHAT: Cõu hỏi cho chủ ngữ. Là cõu hỏi khi muốn biờt chủ ngữ hay chủ thể của hành động. 2. WHOM hoặc WHAT: Cõu hỏi tõn ngữ. Là cõu hoirkhi muốn biờt tõn ngữ hay đối tượng tỏc động của hành động. 3. Short films based on popular stories are often shown which entertain millions of people all over the world. In some countries television is used to teach pupils and students many useful lessons. Students who cannot go to school because of transport or other problems are taught all their lessons at home through television. As television appeals to the eye instead of the ear, people enjoy watching more than listening to the radio. Listening requires knowledge of many things, but what we see with our eyes explains that itself. For all these reasons, there is no doubt that television will continue to be popular for a long time. 1. What is television considered as? It is considered to be one of the most wonderful things that man has ever invented. 2. What do we learn through television? We learn about people and events thousands of miles away. 3.
