1. COMPARISONS 1. So sánh hơn ( superiority comparison ) a. Đối với tính từ và trạng từ ngắn vần S1 + V + adj/ adv + er + than + S2 ( be / auxiliary verb ) Eg: Today it is hotter than it was yesterday. He works harder than he did last year. Does your mother type faster than your father ? Note : Những tính từ dài vần mà tận cùng có các đuôi sau đây thì ta so sánh như tính từ ngắn vần  y  ow  er  et Eg : We are happier than he (is) . Eg : Our class is much noisier than theirs Eg : Tran Hung Dao street is narrower than Tran Phu street . Eg : He is cleverer than his sister . Eg : Countryside is quieter than cities . b. Đối với tính từ và trạng từ dài vần S1 + V + more adj/ adv + than + S2 ( be / auxiliary verb ) Eg : She is more careful than her mother (is) . Eg : Are you more tired than I am ? Eg : He sings more beautifully than other competitors . 2.So sánh nhất ( superlative comparison ): a. Đối với tính từ và trạng từ ngắn vần S + V + the adj/ adv + est Eg : This street is the longest in our city . Eg : She works the hardest in her company . Eg : July is usually the hottest month in a year . b. Đối với tính từ và trạng từ dài vần S + V + the most adj/ adv Eg : Miss Venezuela is the most beautiful in the Miss world contest . Eg : He is the most careless driver that I have ever met . Eg : He did this work the most successfully . Eg: Mai is the tallest boy in the family. Mary is the most beautiful of the three sisters /of all. Note : Những tính từ và trạng từ bất quy tắc khi so sánh hơn và so sánh nhất .  good / well better the best  bad / badly worse the worst  many / much more the most  far farther the farthest furhter the furthest  little less the least Eg : Children in big cities learn English better than the ones in countryside . Eg : He is the worst player in his team . Eg : I have more English books than yours.
2. Must + V : Diễn tả hành động mà chủ ngữ bắt buộc phải làm. Mustn’t + V : Diễn tả hành động mà chủ ngữ không phải làm. Eg : I must go to school everyday. (Tôi phải đến trường hàng ngày). Eg : He mustn’t do English exercises. (Anh ấy không phải làm bài tập Tiếng Anh). Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn : - Sự việc đang xảy ra ở thời điểm chúng ta nói: It's raining Trời đang mưa Who is Kate talking to on the phone? Kate đang nói chuyện với ai qua điện thoại vậy? Look, somebody is trying to steal that man's wallet. Nhìn kìa, có người đang cố gắng trộm cái ví của người đàn ông đó. I'm not looking. My eyes are closed tightly. Tôi không có nhìn đâu. Mắt của tôi đang nhắm chặt nè. - Sự việc đúng ở thời điểm hiện tại nhưng sẽ không còn đúng về lâu dài: I'm looking for a new apartment. Tôi đang tìm một căn hộ mới. He's thinking about leaving his job. Anh ấy đang nghĩ đến việc rời bỏ công việc của mình. - Sự việc diễn ra ở một thời điểm xác định trong tương lai và được lên lịch và sắp xếp sẵn: I'm meeting her at 6.30. Tôi sẽ gặp cô ấy lúc 6:30. They aren't arriving until Tuesday. Họ sẽ không đến cho đến thứ Ba. Cấu trúc Câu khẳng định - S + be (am/is/are) + V-ing + (O) * Ghi chú: S: Chủ ngữ, V: động từ , O: tân ngữ Ví dụ: He's thinking about leaving his job. They're considering making an appeal against the judgment. Câu phủ định - S + be-not + V-ing + (O) Ví dụ: I'm not looking. My eyes are closed tightly. They aren't arriving until Tuesday. Câu nghi vấn - (Từ để hỏi) + Be + S + V-ing + (O)? Ví dụ:
3. Who is Kate talking to on the phone? Isn't he coming to the dinner? CÁCH DÙNG There IS/ARE Khi nói tới một đối tượng một cách chung chung (chỉ trống), ta dùng thành ngữ “There is/are ” 1. Thể khẳng định: 1.1. There is + danh từ số ít = Có VD: There is a pain in my chest. Có cơn đau ở trong ngực của tôi. There is an orange on the table. Có một trái cam ở trên bàn. 1.2. There are + danh từ đếm được ở số nhiều = Có VD: There are two books in his schoolbag. Có 2 quyển sách trong cặp đi học của nó. There are many mangoes in the basket. Có nhiều trái xoài ở trong cái rổ. 2. Thể phủ định: 2.1. There isn't + danh từ số ít = Không có VD: There isn't any cooking-oil in the bottle. Không có dầu ăn trong chai. There isn't any pupil in the class-room. Không có học sinh nào trong lớp học. 2.2. There aren't + danh từ đếm được ở số nhiều = Không có VD: There aren't mangoes in the basket. Không có xoài ở trong cái rổ. There aren't two books on the table. Không có hai quyển sách ở trên bàn. 3. Thể nghi vấn: 3.1. Hỏi: Is there + danh từ số ít = Có không ? Trả lời khẳng định : - Yes, there is. Hoặc: - Yes, there is + phần còn lại của câu trả lời. Trả lời phủ định : - No, there isn't. Hoặc: - No, there isn't + phần còn lại của câu trả lời. VD: Is there anybody in there? Có ai trong đó không? - Yes, there is. Vâng, có. - Yes, there is somebody in there. Vâng, có người trong đó. - No, there isn't. Không, không có. - No, there isn't anybody in there. Không, không có ai trong đó. Is there an orange on the table? Có một trái cam trên bàn phải không? - Yes, there is. Vâng, có. - Yes, there is an orange on the table.Vâng, có một trái cam trên bàn. - No, there isn't. Không, không có. - No, there isn't any orange on the table. Không, không có trái cam nào trên bàn. 3.2. Hỏi: Are there + danh từ đếm được ở số nhiều = Có không ? Trả lời khẳng định : - Yes, there are. Hoặc : - Yes, there are + phần còn lại của câu trả lời. Trả lời phủ định : - No, there aren't.
