Educational aim - To assess student's progress in learning English, evaluate their ability(language knowledge and skills). - Based on the test results, T can make appropriate adjustment to their methods of teaching in each class so as to improve the quality of English teaching and learning. 2. Knowledge and skills: * Testing Sts' general language knowledge: Vocabulary & Grammar of Units 1- 3 - Vocabulary: Pronunciation/Phonetics: + consonants/ consonant clusters: /br/ /pr/ /bl/ /cl/ /sk/ /sp/ /st/ + stress rules: + vocabulary on some certain topics that have been studied/practice - Grammatical structures/items: - Tenses: - Structures: Verbs of liking + Ving/ to- infinitives - Comparative forms of adjectives: review - Comparative forms of adverds - Questions: review - Articles(some uses) - Use of language: word choice/word form/synonyms/antonyms * Testing Sts' Skills: - Integrated language skills: + Listening skills (listen for gist/for main ideas) + Reading skills (reading strategies can be developed- scanning, skimming, gap filling ) + Writing: sentence building/transformation/rewriting/writing a paragraph- an essay(to check their understanding/knowledge of one topic + Sts' ability in using language). - Testing skills: improve skills of doing different types of exercises; skills of taking notes/ III.
