There must be an accident somewhere up ahead because he's been sitting in the same spot for the last few minutes. The cars aren't moving at all. It looks like it's going to be another slow commute. Even though he left his house early to beat the traffic, if the cars don't start to move soon, Richard will be late for a very important meeting. He has to meet with some lawyers who are advising his company on a construction project. Richard is the president of a big company. If he's late, he won't get in trouble, but he hates to be late for anything. Sergey is stuck in the same traffic jam, and he's headed to the same meeting that Richard is going to. He's worried about being late, so he gets out his cell phone and calls one of his coworkers to tell her that traffic is bad. Sergey doesn't know that his boss, Richard, is in the same traffic jam. If he knew that, he wouldn't be so tense. 1. Richard Ryan is in a traffic jam. T F 2. Richard runs a bid company of lawyers. T F 3. Sergey is stuck in the same traffic as Richard. T F 4. Sergey phones his boss to inform about the traffic. T F 5. Sergey is tense because his boss is in the traffic jam. T F 2. Read a passage about fossil fuels. Decide if the statements are true (T) or false (F). Circle T or F.
  2. There are three major forms of fossil fuels: coal, oil and natural gas. All three were formed many hundreds of millions of years ago before the time of the dinosaurs – therefore we call them fossil fuels. Fossil fuels take millions of years to make. But they are not unlimited. We are using up the fuels that were made more than 300 million years ago. They are not renewable like solar power, wind power, hydro power or biomass. Once they are gone they are gone. So, it’s best not to waste fossil fuels. We can save fossil fuels by conserving energy. One simple way to do this is to turn off appliances, TVs and radios that we are not using. We can also turn off lights when no one is in the room. Another way is to go by bike or walk instead of driving cars or motorbikes. 1. Three major forms of fossil fuels are oil, coal and natural gas. T F 2. They were formed right after the time of dinosaurs. T F 3. Once fossil fuels are gone, they will come back later. T F 4. Hydro power and biomass are non-renewable sources. T F 5. Tick (✔) the things you can hear. There are two things that do not appear in the report. You will listen TWICE. Now, listen and tick. This is Betty Bellarussa with your 5 pm traffic report. Well, if you're on the roads listening to this, you already know that traffic is pretty much a mess everywhere. On Interstate 7, it crawls from downtown to the country line. Vehicles crossing the lake on State Route 50 are gridlocked both eastbound and westbound. And the valley freeway is stop- and-go from Mayberry through Winwood. Highway 17 is slow through the city, then clears out until Overpass Road. If that weren't bad enough, an injury accident is blocking Main Street downtown, causing a 15-minute backup for cars waiting to get onto the freeway. This has been Betty Bellarussa with your 5 pm traffic update. Our next traffic report will be at the bottom of the hour. (Dừng)

Ha Noi’s road systems are not prepared for so many cars. Also the population has increased incredibly in the past few years. More and more people are moving here to work and study. Traffic jams have affected my life badly. It takes much longer now to travel from my house to school every day and causes a lot of stress. IV. SPEAKING
