- Kỹ năng nghe là một kỹ năng quan trọng và khó vì nó tích hợp sự giải mã tín hiệu các âm của từ vựng, sự giải mã các cụm và phân tích các thành phần ngữ pháp một cách tự động như một thói quen nhuần nhuyễn thì kỹ năng này mới phát triển tốt được. Khi người mới bắt đầu nghe thì cũng giống như họ đang chạy theo một toa xe lửa vậy. Nếu tốc độ không kịp thì sẽ khó lòng bắt kịp được tốc độ của xe lửa ấy. Nên người bắt đầu học không thể hiểu và bắt kịp các bài nói là điều dễ hiểu. Để khắc phục tình trạng này, người học cần kiên trì học từ vựng, luyện đọc và trau dồi ngữ pháp. Sau cùng là luyện nghe thường xuyên để quen với ngữ điệu, âm lướt, và cũng như phản xạ lại tín hiệu ngữ âm từ được dùng để hiểu thông tin bài nói. Cách luyện nghe: (1) Nghe một lần làm bài tập, ghi chú các từ hoặc cụm từ khó. (2) Nghe lại có nhìn tapescript và đọc theo. Thực hiện nhiều lần cho đến khi thuộc lòng thì càng tốt trước khi qua bước 3. (3) Nghe lại và không xem tapescript. (4) Nghe và ôn lại những ngày sau đó. (5) Tập nói tóm tắt về bài nghe với bạn của mình. Vài tài liệu này được biên soạn nhằm giúp các em học sinh ôn tập lại những bài nghe trong sách giáo khoa với mục đích giúp các em có cơ hội luyện nghe lại nhiều lần và phát triển kỹ năng nghe một cách toàn diện.
